Abstract:

This study examines how marital perceptions are related to future triadic family interactions. The Oral History Interview was completed with married couples (Time 1). Parental and family cohesion, warmth, and problem solving were assessed during both teaching interactions and family problem solving discussions, 18-24 months later. Results indicate that positive marital perceptions were predictive of parental cohesion and family cohesion and warmth. Marital perceptions were not predictive of family problem solving.
