The Ecology of Empire: Capitalism, Sustainability and the Multitude

This essay utilizes Marx's theory of crisis to understand Wal-Mart's recent turn toward green consumerism. By focusing on how postmodern capitalism has collapsed the distinction between production and consumption, I am able to argue that Wal-mart's radical shift in ecological policies is a direct expression of the demands of the multitude.
