Abstract:

This manuscript employs social identity theory to understand communication of homophobia by young men. The focus of this project is to explore the extent to which attitudes toward gay men, masculinity, and masculine gender salience predicts a man's hetero-identity concern and his perception of masculine communication norms about homophobic communication. Using a large sample of college men (N = 313), path analysis largely supported the hypothesized relationships between variables.
