Speaking the Unspeakable: An Exploratory Study of Chinese Women's Sex Communication

Abstract:

The centrality of communication in safer sex issues is widely recognized. Chinese young women face unique challenges when it comes to sex communication. Little is known about Chinese women's experience related to safe sex issues. This study collected qualitative data through participant responses to open-ended questions and the researcher's reflexive journal. The analysis yielded important insight into Chinese women's experience of sex communication. Significance for prevention practice and theory development is discussed.
