We made it. The first of its kind NCA Press team has arrived, and we are ready to begin the journey. When I stepped in to the convention, loaded down with equipment, I tried to take it all in before trying to capture it all on camera. Blue name tags scattered the crowd as members searched for familiar faces. What I am beginning to realize is that this is not just a conference, this is a family, binded by a shared love for communication.
After snagging a few interviews and paging through the thick schedule of events, I took the time to take a look around. The backdrop of this convention is the beautiful city of San Diego, and I could not bring myself to stay inside for long. Some of the press team members and I ventured out onto the terrace where we could talk to people and take in the weather at the same time. Being from Boston, this is a nice change considering the 20 degree temperatures we just left. I don't think there is anything better than being able to meet new people and learn more about what brings them to the convention all while the sun sets behind you.
Even though I have my work cut out for me and a schedule packed full of papers and panels, I have to remind myself throughout the weekend to stop every now and then, and just take in the sunshine. As I put on my sunglasses and press record on my camera, I am ready to tackle the next few days ahead.
