Abstract:This research paper evaluates the uses, and more importantly, the misuses of PowerPoint in modern American classrooms of higher education. In order to understand how PowerPoint is misused in classrooms, it is necessary to evaluate what the previous researchers stated the correct method for PowerPoint use is. After reviewing the literature, the current researchers surveyed students at two separate institutions to understand how students perceive instructors' use of PowerPoint in the classroom. Finally, the current researchers call for further research into the use of PowerPoint in classrooms as well as calling for a return to best practices when working with this technology medium.
