Abstract:Through a feminist rhetorical analysis of six firearm hunting advertisements I found six main concepts defining the ideal hunter: Middle aged, Caucasian man who leads a simple lifestyle, values the money in his wallet, takes on the role of the breadwinner, is competitive, and is dominating. In this, the perpetual philosophy of patriarchy is supported as well as showing a selective audience how to perform gender and take on the role of the ideal hunter.
