A Window of Opportunities
Graduate Student Open House

Undergraduate and graduate students from across the nation got a chance to gather and learn about the best academic options in the field at the Graduate Student Open House.
Hosted by the NCA National Office, the event took place in the Douglas Pavilion at the Manchester Hyatt Hotel on Thursday, November 21st. More than 60 colleges and universities showcased their Master's and Doctoral programs.
"I have been a little lost about what I want to do when I graduate next year, this fair really helped me recognize interesting possibilities for Master's and PhD programs, because I want to work on both degrees at once" said Joseph Jefferson, an undergraduate student from San Diego State University.
Ana Rodríguez, a Master's student from University of Arizona said that the Graduate Student Open House was the main reason for her to come to the NCA Convention. "I think there are many very interesting things going on here, but the open house has been by far the most productive activity for me," expressed Rodríguez.
But not all was serious curriculum and academic program discussion at the open house. Various schools, like Ohio University, took advantage of the gathering of potential students and alumni to hand out invitations to parties for that night. "A big part of coming to the NCA is catching up with your old mentors and classmates," said William Wemer an Ohio University graduate.
A second event of interest for young communication students is the 2008 NCA Job Fair, which will take place on Saturday, November 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Douglas Pavilion at the Manchester Hyatt Hotel.
